Orchestra Leadership Institute

This event has been postponed and will be launched in fall 2025. 


Let the string faculty at the University of Northern Iowa help you get off on the right track this year with the UNI Orchestral Leadership Institute. This event, designed for students in grades 8-12, will give young leaders (or aspiring leaders) the skills and tools they need to be effective leaders in an orchestra program. 

  • How to cue
  • How to be a good principal players
  • How to be a good assistant principal
  • Duties and responsibilities for inside/outside players
  • How does the "chain of command" work?
  • How do you communicate bowing changes?

  • 1:30pm Leadership Skill Showcase 
  • 2:00pm End
