Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Orchestra Wind and Percussion players will audition for placement each semester. Auditions for fall semester are in August, and auditions for Spring semester are in December.
Special Wind Ensemble information for 2025-2026:
In March of 2026, Wind Ensemble will give a performance tour in Scotland that will include a special invited performance at the 2026 National Scottish Concert Band Finals. Projected dates for this will be somewhere in the range of March 11-22 (Spring Break). The cost per student will be approximately $3000.00 with a more clear estimate given at the audition.
At the audition students will complete a form that includes space to indicate if you are interested in the Scotland tour/placement in Wind Ensemble. In some cases, students can be placed in Wind Ensemble even if they are not able to tour. Be aware that priority may be given to students who both meet the performance level expectations and are able to tour, depending on a number of factors.
Due to the tour, students in Wind Ensemble will be placed for the entire academic year and will not re-audition in the spring. However, Wind Ensemble students will have the option to audition for Orchestra or Symphonic Band in December if they wish to be considered for a second ensemble for spring semester.
