The UNI School of Music’s Undergraduate Certificate program offers micro-credentialing to enrich our music majors, minors or any degree program for students with an interest and background in music. For more information or questions, please contact music@uni.edu.

Certificate in Music Composition
This certificate is designed to provide additional music composition training for music majors. Non-music majors may pursue this certificate if they complete an additional 6 hours of core music theory classes: MUS THEO 1110, MUS THEO 1120 and MUS THEO 2130.
Certificate in General Music
This certificate is for non-music majors who enjoy playing in music ensembles and want a deeper understanding of the theory and cultural impact of music.
Certificate in Instrumental Performance
This certificate is for music majors and minors who want additional training in instrumental performance and for non-majors who wish to build skills as instrumental music artists.
Certificate in Jazz Composition and Arranging
This certificate is designed for any student interested in writing and arranging jazz.
Certificate in Jazz Performance
This certificate is designed for any student interested in jazz performance training.
Certificate in String Pedagogy
This certificate is for any student who wants additional training in teaching string instruments.
Certificate in Music Technology
This certificate is for any student interested in learning about music technology and electronic music composition.
Certificate in Music Theory
This certificate is designed to provide additional music theory training for music majors. Students who are not majoring in music may pursue this certificate if they complete an additional 6 hours of core music theory classes: MUS THEO 1110, MUS THEO 1120 and MUS THEO 2130.
