Music Minor

A music minor is a great option for a student who is passionate about music but who chooses to major in another field.

The music minor at UNI is a flexible program in which students can combine musical performance courses and academic courses in many different ways. For those non-majors at UNI whose involvement with the School of Music forms an essential aspect of their undergraduate career, the minor in music studies provides students the opportunity to conduct focused study on music theory, history and literature.

The minor may also serve as an important complement to other studies such as speech pathology and audiology, speech communication, or broadcasting. Some students choose to add a music minor as a balancing influence to coursework in their majors, while others relate music studies directly to their major (for example, a history major might write their thesis on music during the Civil War).

Departmental audition requirements apply to this minor.
