Voice Lessons / Scholarships Auditions
Private voice lessons with UNI Vocal Faculty are available to Seniors and Juniors on Monday, October 7 from 9am to 12pm. Superior students may be invited to sing a solo at the Grand Finale Concert and may be awarded a scholarship to study voice at the UNI School of Music as a music major.
As space is limited, priority is given to qualified Seniors. Students are required to sing one Art Song (e.g., a selection from "24 Italian Songs and Arias"). Selections must be memorized. Students should bring one copy for the voice faculty and one copy for the UNI accompanist, provided free of charge. Each lesson will last approximately 15 minutes.
After all singers have been heard, the Voice Faculty will invite students to sing in a call back audition to determine those students who will be invited to sing on the Grand Finale Concert and to identify scholarship candidates.
Voice faculty will critique to provide encouragement, and suggestions will be of a positive nature. Each lesson will last approximately 15 minutes. Certain students will be heard again in a call-back situation to determine the scholarship candidates who will sing during the evening's concert.
The UNI Voice Faculty gives freely of their time and expertise; cancellations should be made only in extreme cases. Please be sure to use the lesson times you request and are assigned.
*Be advised that a student who wins a scholarship still needs to apply for acceptance to UNI and audition for acceptance into the School of Music on the Specified spring audition dates. A scholarship winner does not automatically gain acceptance to UNI or the School of Music.
