Wind Conductor's Workshop

All Events in the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center

We invite you to join us for our next Wind Conductor’s Workshop at the University of Northern Iowa from January 30-31, 2026. Lectures will focus on conducting technique and other issues related to wind band performance. Music for masterclasses will include repertoire appropriate appropriate for conductors leading ensembles of various ability levels. Active Participants will have three conducting sessions with UNI wind bands and comments from our guest clinician and faculty. Observers are invited to all lectures and masterclasses but will not receive podium time.

Repertoire

Complete repertoire for 2026 will be announced soon. Repertoire in 2025 included Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Folk Song Suite, Howard Hanson’s Chorale and Alleluia, Shenandoah by Omar Thomas, and more. Approximately 12 compositions will be featured. 

Workshop Fees

Active Participant: $170.00 - limited to 10 individuals. Application linked below. (Active participants should have a completed Bachelor’s degree in Music and be currently active as a 5-12 school band conductor or graduate student in Conducting or Music Education). 

Observer: $50.00 - an unlimited number of observer spots are available. Observers should currently be college students studying Music or Music Education, 5-12 school band conductors, or graduate students in Conducting or Music Education.
