Unleash Your Voice This Summer!
Join our dynamic 6-week summer session and develop your sound in a positive, supportive, and judgment-free environment.
Whether you are focused on performance or just interested in unlocking your vocal potential, our small group classes ensure tailored instruction to help you reach your goals. Students will leave with increased confidence, healthier vocal habits, and skills they can use in choir or solo singing.
- Small Class Sizes: No more than 4 singers per group for individualized attention.
- Fun & Growth: Focus on building essential skills while enjoying the process with fellow singers.
- Optional End-of-Session Sharing: Wrap up the session with an informal, casual performance where you can celebrate your progress in a low-pressure setting.

Session Details
- Tuition: $150 (Total for the full 6-week session).
- Installment payments available
- Includes: Weekly 60-minute group instruction, all program materials, and the optional end-of-session sharing.
- Class Duration: 60 minutes per week.
- Location: University of Northern Iowa, Russell Hall
- Dates: June - July, Scheduling is finalized when enrollment is complete.

Youth Voices Collective (ages 12 - 14)
- Perfect for: Choir members, soloists, or anyone who loves to sing and wants to become a more confident singer.
- Focus: Building foundational skills while having fun to help develop your voice for any singing you might wish to do in the future.
Teen Vocal Intensive (ages 15 - 18)
- Perfect for: Singers who would like to explore untapped potential in their voice and gain confidence.
- Focus: Building your voice and gaining tools to become a more consistent singer, which in turn will grow your confidence—whether it be for singing in choir, preparing auditions, or seeking performance opportunities.
Adult Voice Collective (ages 18+)
- Perfect for: Choir members, enthusiasts, or anyone who wants to ease their stage fright and become a more confident singer.
- Focus: A completely judgment-free, low-pressure environment to explore your voice while learning the foundational principles of a good singing technique.
Meet Your Instructor

Kate Smalley Saulsbury is an instructor of voice on the faculty at UNI. A mezzo-soprano and collaborative pianist, she has been teaching and coaching singers and pianists for over twenty-five years. Kate has a broad background in lyric theatre and coach-accompanying, and has performed extensively as a collaborative artist. She recently completed international tours with Morningside University in Europe and South Africa.
Kate works successfully with numerous high school and college students, as well as adults to develop a solid and fundamentally correct vocal technique...The top priority in her studio is to meet each student where they are at, and help them grow as a singer and well-rounded musician.
