Fiddlesticks Audition
Audition Requirements
- G, A, Bb, C, and D major 3 octave scales
- Bach Bouree (1st song in book 5)
- Country Dance by Hines
Auditions are usually held during group class time the first week of lessons in August.
Auditions will be judged by the current Fiddlesticks teacher and at least one other teacher. If no other teacher is available, auditions will be recorded.
Students who are accepted will join Fiddlesticks the following week. Students who are not accepted will remain in their current group class. Probationary acceptance may be granted if the student’s private teacher and the fiddlesticks teacher feel it is appropriate. If the student participates appropriately the first semester, then they will be granted full admittance.
Students in Fiddlesticks are expected to attend group class regularly and come prepared. Students who fail to do so may be barred from performing until they have attended sufficient classes again and/or may be asked to re-audition.
Please direct any questions to your private teacher or the fiddlesticks teacher.
Auditions will be graded using the following form. Each item will be scored on a scale of 1-5 (1=poor, 2=fair, 3=average, 4=Good, 5=Excellent). Students must receive at least a 28, with no more than two categories scoring a 2 or below to be accepted into Fiddlesticks.
