Colorguard Auditions

The UNI Panther Marching Band Colorguard is home to up to 30 talented and passionate spinners, who perform in four unique shows throughout the fall football season. Joining the PMB Colorguard allows you to continue your love for performing beyond high school, all while showcasing your skills in the heart of the action! Every performance takes place inside the electric atmosphere of the UNI-DOME, with over 17,000 roaring fans cheering on the Panthers—one of the most spirited crowds in college football!

By performing in the fall Colorguard, you are automatically qualified to spin in the UNI Winterguard! As a Winterguard member, you’ll perform at home basketball games and compete in competitions across the state of Iowa, giving you even more opportunities to develop and showcase your skills.

If you’re accepted into the Colorguard, you’ll need to register for the PMB. Registration for the 2025 PMB will open during the Spring semester. In the meantime, stay tuned for more information and get ready to be part of something extraordinary!

Bands

Prepare for the Audition

There are two different ways to audition: You can either do live audition with current members or submit a video. Regardless of how you audition, please prepare the following:

  1. Flag Warm-Up: Available here, and includes instructional video and full run of the warm-up to “Let Go” by Dean Lewis.
  2. A 1:30-2:00 prepared solo that demonstrates three tosses:
  • Parallel
  • 45
  • Vertical

The music for the solo is The Incredibles, and is available here. You can choose any part of the song. You may optionally include rifle work if you wish.

Saturday, March 1, 2025: 9am – 2pm, Nielsen Field House on the UNI Campus

  2. A routine taught by UNI Colorguard Instructor

Please register as soon as possible so we know to expect your video by July 1, 2025. 

All new members will be notified by July 15 if they have been accepted into the Panther Marching Band Colorguard.
