Concert Ensembles

Concert Ensembles are open to all university students by audition each semester.

Music majors, minors and scholarship non-majors audition the weekend prior to the start of classes each semester. Visit this page for the audition schedule.

Non-majors may audition for Concert Band; we expect this ensemble to be offered only in the spring semester.

Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble is the premiere wind band at UNI, comprised of the highest caliber musicians committed to professional level study, rehearsal, and performance of traditional and contemporary wind literature of artistic significance. The UNI Wind Ensemble commissions new works for the Wind Band medium, collaborates with guest performers, composers, and conductors, engages in significant recording projects, and maintains a regular schedule of national and international performances.

Meets: Monday and Wednesday, 1 p.m. -2:50 p.m.

Symphonic Band

The UNI Symphonic Band consists serious student musicians dedicated to the outstanding and artistic performance of the finest literature for band. Like the Wind Ensemble, the Symphonic Band commissions new works, collaborates with guest performers and conductors, and gives high-level performances each semester. 

Meets: Tuesday and Thursday, 3:30 - 5:20 p.m.

Concert Band

The UNI Concert Band consists of music majors and serious non-majors interested in expanding the artistic experience through the performance of challenging music for wind band. 

The Concert Band class meets Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:15 p.m.-6:20 p.m., during the Spring semester.
