Percussion Studio

The University of Northern Iowa Percussion Studio offers a diverse range of courses and has something for everyone!  Music majors and minors receive weekly one-on-one instruction with UNI Percussion Faculty in addition to a variety of percussion ensembles and courses. Our typical offerings include Percussion Ensembles, West African Drum & Dance, Brazilian Samba, and Japanese Taiko drumming.  Read more about these at our ensembles page.

The UNI Percussion studio has recently hosted guest artists such as Evan Chapman, Ivan Trevino, Quey Percussion Duo (Gene Koshinski/Tim Broscious), VanTuinen/Moreau Duo, Gwen Dease, icarus Quartet (Jeff Stern/Matthew Keown), and more.   Our students and ensembles have also worked one-on-one with guest composers through residencies including Steven Snowden, Jeffrey Dennis Smith and Molly Joyce.  

Our alumni have gone on to lead successful careers in every area of the field and beyond. Percussion Panthers have gone on to become leaders in the music industry, professional performers (orchestral, broadway, military, jazz), and numerous top notch educators!
