- Creating parental guides to accompany popular method books
- Teaching Recreational Music Making through the Community Music School
- Creating practice guides for students
- Teaching non-music major group piano lessons
- Composing folk arrangements and programming them in performances
- Presenting research at local, regional and national conferences
Saying “yes” to students’ ideas and then providing scaffolding when needed allows the graduate student to evolve and develop as a musician, performer and teacher. Service-learning through a community outreach program are also part of the activities of MTNA's UNI Collegiate Chapter. Expanding the educational environment from of the studio or academic classroom challenges the graduate student to take steps towards a more encompassing definition of music. The graduate student will grow and a musical society will flourish with an expanded understanding of educating through and with music. Join us at UNI and challenge yourself to becoming greater!
