Our Tomorrow Campanile Project
After nearly 150 years of the University of Northern Iowa, the Our Tomorrow Campaign kicked-off in the Fall of 2022 aiming to prepare UNI for the next 150 years to come. The $250 million campaign push includes a pillar focused on renovating and restoring iconic spaces on our historic campus, including the most iconic of them all— the campanile. As the students who will directly benefit from the much needed instrumental upgrades, our guild was lucky to be at the forefront of this renovation celebration.
Students, alumni, and community members gathered Friday morning to watch as notable members of the campanile campaign took swings at the bell mold in an attempt to free the new commemorative bell. Among those was our faculty advisor, Dr. Erik Rohde and guild president, Emily Clouser.
The Guild of Carillonneurs performed one last Campaniling Concert on their set of 47 bells before their anxiously awaited expansion. The concert featured hits from the 70s and included a DJ/carillon mashup of the crowd favorite, "Mr. Bluesky" by the Electric Light Orchestra. The mashup served as a transition between the dance party and annual carillon concert.
