Bass Jamboree - Schedule

UNI BASS JAMBOREE 2019

SCHEDULE AND INFORMATION

Saturday, September 28

SCHEDULE:

8:30 am - Registration table open

8:45 am - Mini Recital by Johnny Hamil and Alex Pershounin

9:00 am - Bass Techniques Clinic with Johnny Hamil (presentation)

9:30 am - Bass Workshop with Johnny Hamil (everyone plays)

10:00 am - Bass Ensemble Rehearsal 1 (everyone plays) Click here to download the parts and listen to the reference recordings of the pieces we are going to play if you want (not required). The printed parts will be provided at the rehearsal also. You can read through any of the voices and gage your comfort level with the part's difficulty. We will decide on the final assignment of the parts at the rehearsal. 

10:30 am - Master Classes with Johnny Hamil (selected performers)

12:00 pm - Lunch (at the Piazza Dining hall at the Redeker Center)

1:00 pm - Bass Techniques Workshop with Alex Pershounin (everyone plays)

2:00 pm - Bass Ensemble Rehearsal 2 (everyone plays)

2:30 pm - Individual Coaching on the Bass Ensemble pieces and techniques (as assigned)

3:00 pm - Bass Ensemble Rehearsal 3 (everyone plays)

4:00 pm - Break (snack, practice, change for the concert)

4:30 pm - Featured concert: UNIBJ Bass Ensemble, Alex Pershounin,  Johnny Hamil

You can park anywhere in the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center Visitor’s Lot (right next to the GBPAC). Parking is free on this day.

The evening concert will be over by about 6:30 PM. If you plan to stay in Cedar Falls overnight, lodging is available at a number of area hotels and motels. The closest to the UNI campus are:

Lunch is available at the Piazza Dining Hall in Redeker Center, just across the street from the GBPAC. Bring a snack for the break between the last master class and the concert. There are many restaurants close to UNI if you wish to go off-campus for lunch or stay after the concert for dinner.
