Jonathan Grorud is starting his first year at the University of Northern Iowa, pursuing a Masters in Trombone Performance. Jonathan completed his BS in Instrumental Music Education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where he studied under Dr. Daniel Rowland.

While at UW- Platteville, Jonathan was principal trombone in the UWP Symphony Orchestra, and played lead trombone in the UWP Jazz 1. He was also a very active member of the music community while at UWP, performing in a total of 15 different ensembles and chamber groups. Jonathan is also an active member of multiple ensembles near his hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin, and also has a private studio there, where many of his students have performed at the nationally renowned Essentially Ellington Jazz Festival in New York City.

In his free time, Jonathan enjoys golfing, bowling, and supporting his favorite sports teams: the Milwaukee Bucks, Green Bay Packers, and Milwaukee Brewers.
