Amp Club

Music club for Cedar Valley youth

Amp Club is an opportunity for youth in the Cedar Valley to get together and make music in modern bands. Amp Club is free and open to anyone.

About Amp Club

Play in a Band, Your Way

What is Amp Club?

Modern bands (rock, pop, hip-hop, country, punk, metal, and more) are thriving in the Cedar Valley. Some kids are playing in school groups, others are jamming in garages and basements. Amp Club gives them a place to come together, form bands, and make music in a supportive space.

Each band is assigned a coach from the University of Northern Iowa who guides rehearsals and helps the group stay on track. Amp Club isn’t a lesson program. We don’t provide beginning instrument instruction. It’s about creating, collaborating, and jamming with others.

Who can join? Any youth who already plays an instrument or sings and wants to be in a band.

What’s provided? A rehearsal space, a UNI coach, all instruments and gear, and performance opportunities.

What’s expected? Bring your creativity, some basic playing or singing ability, and a willingness to collaborate. Instruments are provided, but students are welcome to bring their own too.

Where do we perform? Bands will showcase their music at Roxy’s, The Octopus, Spectrum JamFest, and more! Want to play at other locations, like your school? You can use Amp Club gear.
