Ashlynn Hoornaert

Ashlynn Hoornaert is a graduate student at the University of Northern Iowa where she is working towards a Master Degree in Flute Performance. She holds a Bachelors in Music Education from the University of North Dakota. Ashlynn is also a member of the National Flute Association and performed in their Collegiate Flute Choir at the 2025 Convention in Atlanta, Georgia.  

Ashlynn has been playing the flute for 12 years, currently studies with Dr. Hannah Porter Occena, and previously studied with Dr. Lisa Bost Sandberg and Marnie Craft. She enjoys performing in many contexts including large ensembles, chamber ensembles, and solo. Outside of music, Ashlynn is an avid reader and outdoor enthusiast.  

Students of all ability levels are welcome! Whether students are making their first sounds or working to refine skills Ashlynn is ready to support their musical journey. Her main goal as a teacher is to help students grow their skills, confidence, and enjoyment of music.
