A native of Des Moines, IA, Stephanie Ramos earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Northern Iowa studying viola under the direction of Dr. Tyler Hendrickson, formerly under Dr. Julia Bullard. During her time at UNI, she was involved in the Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra and held the position of Principal Viola. Stephanie reinstated the American String Teachers Association Chapter at UNI as President for 2 years and was a co-founder of the Mariachi Panteras, a new mariachi ensemble performing traditional Mexican folk music. In February 2024, Stephanie was selected to present her research, “Preventing Injuries in Violinists and Violists through Body Awareness and Appropriate Set-up” at the 2024 Research in the Capitol event in Des Moines, Iowa. In addition to a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Social Work with a concentration on the disability field. An advocate for mental health, Stephanie is a Skills Trainer for the Gateway Program in the Waterloo Community School District, assisting high school students with disabilities to foster independence in life skills and work experience in the community. Ms. Stephanie holds a studio of both violin and viola players, teaches viola group lessons, and is actively expanding her education within the Suzuki Method. Ms. Stephanie provides a safe and nurturing environment where all students have the opportunity to grow musically and guides them when facing challenges, helping students in their development as strong musicians.
