School of Music welcomes new hires

The School of Music is pleased to announce the hiring of three new staff members. 

Michelle Kostielney accepted the Secretary II position in the School of Music. Michelle graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, and a Psychology minor. She recently served as Test Proctor, Leader Proctor and Media Intern for the Iowa State University ELO-Test Center. Michelle also brings prior experience in social media management, customer service as well as experience in research and correspondence. Michelle began working in the office on August 1st.

Gayl Pakala has accepted the Secretary II position in the School of Music. Most recently, Gayl has served as Clerk II in the Department of Theatre. Gayl graduated from North Iowa Area Community College with an Associate's degree in Horticulture. Prior to her work at UNI, Gayl served as secretary for the City of Cedar Falls Department of Human and Leisure Services, and also owned and operated her own baking business. Gayl will begin working in the office on Monday, September 19. 

Heather Hamilton has accepted the position of Director of the University of Northern Iowa Community Music School in the School of Music. Heather graduated from University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point with a Master of Music degree in Clarinet Pedagogy, and from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in Clarinet Performance. Most recently, Heather served as Director of Education at the Gist Piano Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Heather has an extensive background in both arts administration and music instruction. Heather will begin working on October 6th.
