Dr. Alison Altstatt has accepted our Assistant Professor of Musicology/Music History position. Alison has a Ph.D. in Musicology from the University of Oregon; M.A. in History from UC Berkeley, and BA in Asian Studies from UC Berkeley. She has served as a guest researcher at the Institut fur Musikwissenschaft Friedrich-Alexander Universtat Erlangen-Nurnberg, Germany. She has Master's Level Certification in Medieval Latin from the University of Toronto Center for Medieval Studies and Level I Certification in Kodaly. In 2011 she was selected as the Outstanding Scholar in Music and Outstanding Scholar in Musicology at the University of Oregon. She received the American Musicological Society Alvin H. Johnson AMS-50 Fellowship in 2010-11, and won the prize for best graduate paper at the annual meeting of the American Musicological Society, Pacific Northwest Chapter in 2009. She has also received numerous additional awards and grants.
Dr. Altstatt is currently serving as Visiting Assistant Professor at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Previously, she taught at the University of Oregon, Western Oregon University, and St. Joseph of Arimathea Anglican Theological College.
