Music Education Day

UNI Music Education Day is designed for juniors and seniors in high school who are considering a career in music education working as an elementary music specialist, middle school/high school choir teacher, or middle school/high school band teacher. This free event for registrants will include classes in conducting, choral and instrumental methods from UNI professors, sitting in on ensemble rehearsals including Concert Chorale, Jazz Band Combo, Orchestra, and Panther Marching Band, meet with current students, and experience first-hand what it might be like to be a music education major in college.


8:30 am - Check-in begins in the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center lobby
9:00 am - Admissions/School of Music overview
9:30 am - Student panel
10:00 am - Music specific campus tours
11:00 am - Elementary Methods, Conducting, Marching Band Methods and Choral Methods sessions
12:00 pm - lunch in Piazza
1:00 pm - Students: attend studio class or Cantorei rehearsal; Parents: Q & A panel with UNI music education faculty
2:00 pm - Rehearsal observations
3:00 pm - Music education day concludes
