The UNI School of Music Jazz Studies program is excited to present a single-day jazz combo workshop this summer: Jazz on a Summer's Day!
When: Monday, June 21, 2021 - 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Russell Hall, UNI Campus
Who: this workshop is for high school students, those going into 10th grade and above
Complete schedule, room assignment and further details will be provided upon acceptence into the workshop.
Application deadline is June 8, 2021. Registrants will be notified if they have been accepted into the workshop by June 10th (full refunds will be issued for any applicants not selected for participation in the event).

To apply, complete the form below including a prescreening video. Guidelines for your video submission are as follows:
All horn players, vibraphonists, guitarists, bassists and pianists—record yourself playing the melody of your selection, then improvising a minimum of 32 measures (if you play on a blues, you should play at least 3 choruses, or 36 measures), using a backing track such as iReal Pro, Aebersold, or Mr. Sunnybass.
In addition, guitarists and pianists should comp the changes for a minimum of 32 measures. Bass players should play a minimum of 32 measures in the appropriate accompaniment style for the tune.
Drummers, please record yourself playing the following grooves, interactively (16 measures each, minimum -- record in one continuous take, but leave space between each):
Medium tempo swing, 132 BPM
Medium up tempo swing, 200 BPM
Even eighth note Latin groove, your choice (bossa nova, samba, mambo, cha cha, etc)
