Scholarship Benefit Concert 2019

Join us for "Coming Attractions!" - the 38th Annual Scholarship Benefit Concert! The University of Northern Iowa School of Music Cordially invites you to attend the 38th Annual Scholarship Benefit Concert Friday, September 27 in the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center.

Get ready for a celebration! The evening will be filled with exceptional performances by student and faculty musicians, as well as a dazzling post-concert reception where the music and excitement of the evening continue!

Concert Performers and Reception Details

The mainstage concert will include performances by the Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra, Concert Chorale, UNI Singers, faculty artist Suzanne Hendrix-Case, mezzo-soprano, the UNI Women’s Chorus, faculty artist Randall Harlow, organ, “Saloon Music” by Bruce Broughton featuring Randy Grabowski, trumpet, with faculty and student musicians, and UNI Jazz Band One.

Pre-concert music will be provided by the UNI Children’s Choir during our chocolate course. Plan to stay after the mainstage event for excellent hors d’oeuvres and champagne in the lobby with music provided by Bob Dunn, guitar. Or step into Davis Hall after the mainstage concert ends, for a showcase celebrating Walt Whitman on the 200th anniversary of his birthday. Coordinated by faculty artists Jonathan Schwabe and Christopher Merz, this "Whitman Sampler" showcase will feature School of Music students and faculty.

Please join us for this exciting event and help to support student scholarships at UNI’s School of Music!

Becoming a Special Donor

The Scholarship Benefit Concerts have been raising scholarship funds for exceptionally talented music students and students in need since 1982. In addition to the income from tickets sales for the concerts, we have developed a network of community, small business, corporate and university-related donors. The extent of this support has been most gratifying to the students and faculty at UNI’s School of Music.

To allow us to continue the support we have provided in the past, please consider becoming a special donor. To find out more about donor categories and benefits, please contact us. To make an even more lasting gift, please consider contributing to the endowment of the Scholarship Benefit Concert fund. For more information, contact the UNI Foundation at (319) 273-7727.

Your support makes the difference and allows each student to excel at UNI! The 38th annual Scholarship Benefit Concert is a culmination of the School of Music’s long term dedication to excellence in preparing students to be successful musicians. Through your support, our students excel in achieving their goals!
