Robin Guy, piano, is Professor of Piano/Collaborative Piano and former Chair of the Keyboard Division at the University of Northern Iowa where she has served since 1990. Her collaborative artistry can be heard on seven compact disc recordings produced by Vienna Modern Masters, Albany, Capstone, Innova, and Mark Records, listed below. Her recording Love Rejoices with tenor Daryl Taylor on songs of H. Leslie Adams was listed as the first (non-alphabetical) “2001 Critics’ Choice citing…the best recording of the exiting year” by American Record Guide. Additionally the Innova release pause and feel and hark, on which she recorded Jeremy Beck’s “Black Water” with soprano Jean McDonald, was recognized by Gramophone Magazine as “[one of the] best new recordings from North America.”
Her performance highlights include international festivals in South America, performances in Russia, concerti with the Detroit Symphony Chamber Orchestra and the Duluth-Superior Symphony among others, and appearing on A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor. Dr. Guy spent many summers performing and teaching piano and collaborative artistry at the world-famous Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. She is active as an adjudicator for state auditions and festivals. Her degrees are Bachelor of Music Education, summa cum laude, from Baldwin Wallace College (University) Conservatory, Master of Music from Baylor University, and Doctor of Musical Arts from The University of Arizona, where she met her husband, guitarist Todd Seelye.
