Dr. Chris Shortway is an Assistant Adjunct Professor of Music at the University of Northern Iowa, where he has served on faculty since 2015. He teaches courses in music technology, music theory, and music composition.
A prominent feature of his applied composition work includes creating the official music for the USA Gymnastics 2020–2028 compulsory routines. Serving as the music for gymnastics programs nationwide, these pieces are utilized daily in training facilities as well as for competitions across the country.
Dr. Shortway earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia, a Master's of Music from the University of Northern Iowa, and a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa, where he held a Ballard-Seashore Dissertation Fellowship.
